Welcome to MLS, the Lasers & Secondary Sources group at DESY, where we develop and operate powerful lasers and laser-plasma accelerators.
Our work covers laser development, electron beam generation through laser-plasma interaction, and generation of undulator radiation. Our flagship project is the development of KALDERA, a high-intensity laser to drive application-ready next-generation laser-plasma accelerators. We continue to operate the LUX laser-plasma accelerator and ANGUS drive laser.
We support our experimental work with theoretical studies, particle-in-cell simulations, code development, and a bit of machine learning. We also have a knack for eye-candy art-work.
